How to choose a clinical psychologist in India
A useful first filter is the role. A psychologist offers talk therapy and does not prescribe medication. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe. Many people start with a psychologist for anxiety, low mood, or relationship concerns.
Check training and the kind of care
Ask what they are trained in, how long they have practised, and whether they work with your concern (anxiety, depression, trauma, and so on). In India, clinical psychology training and RCI registration are worth asking about. You can also ask whether sessions are video-only or require you to visit a clinic.
Manovistaar is online-only. Neha Malik is a clinical psychologist (MA Psychology) with 4+ years of experience. Sessions are 45-minute video calls from your home.
Practical checks before you pay
Confirm the fee, session length, cancellation rule, and how the video link arrives. You should not have to send highly sensitive clinical details in a public form if you prefer to share them in session.
A consultation here is ₹700. Details are on the fees and cancellation page. For the difference between roles, see psychologist vs psychiatrist.
