Anxiety counselling with a clinical psychologist

Anxiety is one of the most searched mental health concerns in India. It can look like constant worry, panic attacks, a tight chest, poor sleep, irritability, or a quiet all-day tension that is easy to dismiss as “just stress.” Anxiety counselling is structured talk therapy to understand triggers and build steadier responses — not a promise of a cure in one visit.

When everyday worry may need a psychologist

Worry is part of being human. It becomes worth professional support when it starts to interrupt sleep, focus, relationships, or the ability to leave the house or sit through a meeting. Some people notice sudden panic. Others live with generalised anxiety that has been running in the background for months.

You do not need a crisis to book. If anxiety has lasted more than a couple of weeks, or if you are avoiding things you used to manage, a confidential consultation is a practical next step.

How anxiety therapy at Manovistaar works

Dr. Neha Malik uses evidence-based approaches such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and related methods, adapted to your history and goals. A first session is a conversation: what the anxiety feels like, when it started, what you have already tried, and what would make life more liveable.

Medication is not always required, and a psychologist does not prescribe. If a medical review might help, that can be discussed. Many people with mild to moderate anxiety begin with therapy alone.

Questions people ask

Can a psychologist treat anxiety without medication?

Yes, for many people with mild to moderate anxiety, structured therapy such as CBT is a first-line approach. A psychologist cannot prescribe medicine. If symptoms are severe or you already take medication, therapy can still help alongside a psychiatrist’s care.

What happens in the first anxiety counselling session?

You describe what you are experiencing, when it shows up, and what you want to change. The psychologist listens, asks clarifying questions, and outlines a possible plan. You do not have to share everything in one sitting.
